U2 bass player, Adam Clayton, is leaving the Eldorado — putting his three-bedroom co-op on the market for $8.69 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. Clayton bought the fourth-floor unit in two sections, combining the units in the early 1990s. He purchased the first for $620,000 in 1993 and the second for $430,000 in January 1994, according to data from Miller Samuel president Jonathan Miller.
The unit now features a 38-foot gallery, a formal dining room and a seven-window view of Central Park. Clayton also combined two of the apartment’s bedrooms into a master suite with a nine-by-10-foot dressing room and transformed the two maid’s rooms into a 22-foot-long eat-in kitchen. U2′s lead singer, Bono, sold a 16th-floor unit at the Eldorado for $4.9 million in 2008. In other recent Eldorado news, the famed two-tower co-op recently attempted to evict a transsexual ex-convict from the building for menacing behavior.
